Freedom of information is an exciting, fundamental right that gives all of us access to information held by Government. Every year Government produces thousands of records containing information about many issues concerning us, including roads, housing, employment, policies on energy, immigration, security, disaster preparedness, planning, environmental protection, health care and education. Having access to these records will empower us to affect Government decisions; therefore changing our lives and our community for the better.

Sunshine Week has been celebrated in the Cayman Islands annually since September 2007 to coincide with International Right to Know Day. The week is used as a means to promote FOI to the public, ensure their understanding and encourage use of the Law.
